The UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Programme project “The Restoration of Casa Batlló: from side to beyond its walls”, has allowed eleven young professionals to contribute to the historical documentation of Casa Batlló and get to know first-hand the protagonists who have made possible its restoration. Thanks to the workshops held, they learned how to implement sustainability to cultural heritage, learned about the diversity of modernist works that surround Casa Batlló, interacted with the local community and discovered the management model implemented in the house to preserve its Outstanding Universal Value while at the same time inspiring its thousands of visitors. Many thanks to the international volunteers who participated and to the collaborators who made it possible that for the first time in history, a World Heritage site in Spain could be part of this important program created by UNESCO since 2008.
